Before I make the next "big" camera purchase I have to sell something. Looking around the house I notice a Nikon Coolscan V ED film scanner and my trusted Canon EOS 3 film camera just taking up space.

I am curious, do you own a 35mm film camera? Are you keeping it or will you sell it at some point?

On Ebay the EOS 3 is barely fetching $200 so I am torn between selling it and keeping it. But why should I?

i had one... EOS 500, my first brand new SLR (used to buy secondhand before that). long-term loaned it to a cousin with no camera who promptly bought a canon DSLR and then had them both stolen vmad

her insurance paid out and she got a replacement as far as i know, but has made no mention of giving me back the 35mm camera... anyhow, its not my own one so i don't really want it 'back'.

and, the batteries is used to take were mental expensive: $28 for 2 which lasted about 3-6 films and then died forever. thats what put me off using it mainly, aside from the cost of film & developing.

my film bodies are worth more to me than what I can sell them for, so I'm keeping them.

Sell? I'd buy a Leica M6 tomorrow if they weren't so expensive!

NO! Don't sell your EOS 3! If you do, sell it to me.

Like foxbat, I'd totally BUY a Hasselblad 503CW tomorrow if one came along at a good price.

My film camera is an ancient Fujica ST801 ( http://www.thecamerasite.net …s/Pages/fujica-ST-801.htm (external link) )
Great little camera. No automatic features of any sort. It forces the user to actually think about what (s)he's doing rather than just pointing and shooting.
It served me well for a loooong time but it has nearly zero market value.
I'll just keep it.

Not me. Having a Nikon film SLR was the major decision maker in going with the D700 for digital full frame, I already had a lot of very good lenses. I still believe there are situations where digital still can not match film, especially Fuji Velvia 50 slides.

There is no point in selling a film camera. I have the Canon EF, T90 and EOS 30 (the one with eye-controlled autofocus) still lying around. The resale value is virtually nothing, but as long as they work properly, you can still use them for film photography, should you like to.

Over in the UK the demand for film is still great so FUJI has a site dedicated to selling and processing film http://www.fujilab.co.uk (external link). I was hoping to find a similar FUJI site here in the states.

My concern is I am not sure how long I will be able to get 35mm slide film processed. (I only shoot FUJI Velvia slides.)

Not really, its too much fun to get the negs and make enlargements, if its not a Leica or a Hasselblad then just keep it. instead spend some outrageous amounts on developing and enlargements, so much more fun than on inkjet

I am certainly considering selling film cameras... I have quite a few... to start an old Yashica J5 and a Walzflex Copal-MXV.... a Nikon FM.. (and more...)

Just trying to raise some funds for a flash and/or new lens...
