I don't think the Meteor is part of her collection but it is part of the collection where she hangers her aircraft.

The old aircraft company or something.

Thanks guys.

Hey RamRod

That P51 pilot looks familiar, he's a man that definitely looks like he enjoying himself.

Got to speak to him a while back and he says that absolutely loves flying that Mustang, that day he flew into Duxford in an Extra 300 and the took the Mustang to Cosford to display there and then did another display before landing at Duxford. He then told us later on he was taking the Spitfire to do a display somewhere else. Three great aircraft in one day, no wonder he looks so happy.

Bong was killed doing the initial delivery test flight of a P-80A Shooting Star. Bong's job was performing test hops in newly delivered fighters.

His P-80A suffered a fuel pump failure and the engine flamed-out moments after getting airborne.

Early P-80As suffered serious issues with fuel delivery.. Bong's death greatly accelerated solving the problem.

Too many top aces died in accidents after the war....

My regards,

Widewing

This is THE P38 Bong was flight testing around the time of his death...
(Obviously, he didn't crash in this. From the Udvar Hazy Center at Dulles)
20D + 24-105 (which accounts for why it's not wider...)
