joeseph "smells like turd" More info | Jan 16, 2009 02:19 | #175 Mk IX Spitfire Sadly this beautiful plane made a crash-landing yesterday & I don't think it'll be flying again for a wee while. Thankfully no-one hurt, but looking at the pictures I've seen it'll be at the panelbeaters for more than a couple of days. link to news story: http://www.times-age.co.nz …ion=&thesecondsubsection= Just love the optimism in the 2nd to last sentence about possibly flying on Saturday! link to bent aircraft pix - don't know for sure who owns these two pictures - mods please delete these if inappropriate... http://i18.photobucket.com …/Ace__Fire/SpitCrash1.jpg http://i18.photobucket.com …/Ace__Fire/SpitCrash2.jpg some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

wardie Goldmember More info | Jan 16, 2009 02:45 | #177 I'm afraid that with the port wheel folded forward like that there may be some serious damage to the area where the gear is attached to the main spar. Going to take a while to fix I think. Wardie

Going to take a while to fix I think. Wardie One issue in favor of the A/C crashing like that and not under extreme power or from altitude is the fact that most of the damage is to the front end and landing gear. Two areas where it is muche easier to either rebuild or recreate parts . Main fuselage dame, wing root or tail fletching are harder to repair. Les Baldwin
