@Tony Stark: You speak my mind, only I'm looking for Siggy 30 this time, not enough dough to get the 35L LOL

Cheers! :D

I won't lie but I've thought about selling my 24-70L for the 35L 50L and 85L but I don't have the cash right now :(
The reason why I want to go with primes is because of my Sigma 30 1.4
I sold it a week ago and I've been kicking myself non-stop

Well I HAD to sell my 35L because I NEEDED a 24-70L. To cure my prime loneliness I picked up a Sigma 50 F/1.4 :D. Now my Sigma 85 has a little brother.

I have no idea why I am even considering a zoom, when I know that I love primes so much. I have been using my 50mm exclusively for the whole year that Ive owned my 50D, and the only thing I have ever said I wanted was something wider, and was only when I wanted to take some landscape/fireworks shots.

Prime fever hit me nice and early. My dad offered to buy me the 50mm f/1.4 from Sigma, but I lust after a L lens. Im deciding whether to save up my self to get a L prime + the Sigma, or use the money from the Sigma to fund a L. Decisions decisions...

Followed this thread once in awhile and was always amazed by some of the images.
One of my first lenses was the nifty fifty.
Just ordered a Sigma 30mm today.
Put a Canon 50mm f/1.4 on my 7D last fall and it hasn't come off much.
I can see my lens inventory is really starting to migrate towards primes.
Glad to see this thread coming to the surface once in awhile.

Which L primes are you looking into?

I REALLY want the 85 1.2, but at over $2000, quite over what I want to spend at this moment. Im looking into the 35L or the 50L. Pretty much comes down to FL vs. Speed. But I tested the Sigma 50 and the IQ is very similar to the 50L; at this point the 50L would be better for the extra stop of light, and better* bokeh. So for now, the 35L.

The 35L is great but you should know that having owned both lenses and used the Sigma 50, the 50L is a little soft... still great lens. If I ever go back to Canon primes again, I'll repeat my decision to get the 50L over the Sigma. And no question about the 35L, my favorite lens of all time (for now that is).

Your fast. You posted about 30 minutes ago and your gear list already shows a 50 1.4.

I can't help but want to shoot only with primes, yet my budget cannot always allow what I want. I really want to get a nice L prime after using a 50mm f/1.8 for a whole year now. Just need to save up :(

I must confess to being addicted to primes since discovering their magic back in my early 35mm days in the '80s.

When digital first hit I stayed out of the market for years, and my wife gave me my first digital P&S (Canon A80) for our anniversary in 2003. I finally took the digital SLR plunge a year and a half ago with a kit t1i.

My first prime for it was the Canon 50mm f/1.4 and it popped nicely (as expected) over the kit lens.

THEN . . . came my first "L" lens about a month ago. Truly awesome optics. It's an EF 200mm 2.8L II . . . and it ROCKS when I do my part!

Next will be an "L" in either 85mm or 135mm. It's a worthy addiction to have!!!
