And one from the Voigtlander Nokton 50mm f/1.1:

I'm gonna miss the 50L... :(

Another one for the prime barn - just picked up a nice little Samyang 85/1.4. Had a Siggy 85/1.4 a few months ago but it was really overkill for the purpose I wanted it for (didnt need AF).

Havent used it enough yet to come to a final verdict but wide open it loses a touch of sharpness (nothing a sharpening script cant get back with ease though). So far it suits me perfectly:

IMAGE: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2055/5811647726_1b0c9586fe_o.jpg

Also picked up a few other beauties - Canon 200mm f/2.8 L, Zeiss Jena 135 f/3.5 (M42 mount) and a Zeiss Biometar 80mm (Pentacon 6 mount) with a tilt adapter. The last one is a handful to use but a lot of fun :D
The unfortunate trouble now is that my bag is beginning to look a bit small....

I currently own a 50L, and am planning to pick up a 135L. Would this two lens combo work well over a
35L/135L combo? The reason I'm asking is because I'm playing with the idea of moving the 50L for the 35L.

I'm still curious as to whether the 24/50/135 or 35/85/135 is the right set of primes for me in the long-term. I enjoy photographing peope, and I hope to continue to learn and develop my craft.

Personally, I think 35L + 85L would be a better and more versatile combo - there seems to be too much of a gap between 35 and 135...but I guess it all depends on your needs. It's certainly the route I'm moving towards - I really want the 85L, but I think it's too close to my 50 - the 35L seems the most obvious replacement...plus it's just a spectacular lens! :)

shoot mainly on primes :) Until I get a 70-200mm 2.8 IS II, that will probably always bee the case. Zooms are just not fast enough for me. I keep a 70-300 4-5.6 around just in cast, but I rarely use it.

hi
my name is jobv2.0.
i only HAVE primes so i have no choice. but i chose to have only primes. (see what i did there? LOL)

35 f/2 and 85 f/1.8

next two lenses will be 50 1/4 and 135 f/2 which ill probably get at the same time.

i have to admit the only zoom i crave is the 70-200 f/2.8 (non-IS) but im going to therapy for that (sorry)

I have the 35/135L combo and I love it. I also have a 200L but I prefer that 135L.

I started with 28-70L - 85L - 135L - 200 2.8L and ended with :
16-35L - 35L - 85L - 70-200 2.8L

The 135L + 200L were too unhandy, in that range a 70-200 2.8L is superb (also supersharp and 9.7/10 on Fredmiranda), this range is really great as a zoom for basketball, receptions, events... 135 was my least used lens, had to force myself to use it just like 200 2.8L.

Maybe I replace the 16-35 2.8L with 24 1.4L one day, then my definitive set will be :
24 1.4L - 35 1.4L - 85 1.2L - 70-200 2.8L

How many of you other prime lovers feel that the zoom causes you to think about composition less? I find that I end up with more interesting shots when using the fixed FL prime and foot zoom. Not to mention that I am a bit of a wide aperture junkie.

I sort of pictured the 'frame' in my mind, so it helps me picture the composition before I raise the camera to my eye. I want your Sigma 30. :p

Cheers! :D
