...it all started with a 50mm f1.8....

awesome :D
i was considering the samyang vs the 85mm 1.8, but i need af :(
really want the sigma 85

currently have 28mm f2.8 ( just sold to buy a b800) never used it :(
a sigma 50mm 1.4 >>> AMAZING!
canon 85mm 1.8 good :D
promaster 100mm f3.5 macro, sharp at f5.6 , was 50 bucks and gives errors every once in a while but it is a fun lens to play with. (rarely use it)

minolta lenses 58mm and 135mm :D

want: sig 85mm, canon 135L

I feel like I would trade my Tammy for a sigma 50 1.4 as long as it was on the money with the focus. I just can't seem to find the love for the zoom any longer. Hmmm...might throw it up on the classified.

is the nokton manual or af?

wow f/1.1 do you have any shots with it wide open?

It's manual (Leica M mount) and I do have some of it at 1.1. And here's one at 1.1: https://photography-on-the.net …?p=12530400&postcount=104

Congrats!
It is a great lens. I owned SMC Takumar 50 1.4, still don't know why I sold it.

Cheers! :D

Hi my name is Wayne and I'm a primeaholic, unfortunately I've also developed MCS (Multiple Camera Syndrome) so I now run a pair of 40D's with a Sigma 30/1.4 on one and a Sigma 85/1.4 on the other in a double harness. (I also run ND4's on them as a shallower depth of field is more important to me than shutter speed, even at 100 ISO it's hard to run wide open without them a lot of the time).

My wife now refuses to go out with me unless I cover the harness (so an unexpected bonus on that front).

I still have a long list of MF primes but sold my Asahi Super-Tak 50/1.4 and Asahi SMC 85/1.8 as I found it hard to focus them quickly on a crop even with a split focus screen.

the 30/85 on the crops are great (roughly good old 50/135 in 35mm terms, worked for me 25 years ago), eyeing up the little Canon 60mm Macro crop lens at the moment. Not sure I need anything longer I've learnt how to walk again rather than hitting the end of the zoom and for some reason staying rooted to the same spot.

MCS...please don't give me any ideas. I wish you the best Wayne. BTW, I'm leaving for the mountains for a couple days and my Tammy isn't even going!

Pure class :)

If you could only have the 30 or the 85 on your 40d which would it be? I'm looking for my first toke on the prime pipe - on a 50d :)

On a 50D, Siggy 30 sounds tempting.
The thing is the Sigma dealership in my country is not the best in terms of service.
I don't want to risk of going back to the dealer for MA/calibration.
I'm thinking hard about the 28 1.8 as well.

Cheers! :D

great lens. I upgraded to 24L II though. I'd sell you mine but I don't think it's worth it to ship there.

Primes are pretty darn sweet. I have tasted the nectar, and I can say it is heavenly. :D I am thinking I need the 35L. Just because.

I think it is a very personal thing, I shoot a lot of informal potraiture so 80% of all my shots are now with the 85/1.4 and I love it (It is almost the same DOF and focal length as the Canon 135mm f/2 on a full frame and that's a legendary combination). I expect many people would prefer the 30.

To save double posting I posted some shots from the 85 on my last outing here (about 1/3rd to 1/2 way down):
https://photography-on-the.net …ead.php?t=886651&page=212
Never got any comments on them as I got trumped by kiddy pics either side of me. The 85 has an insane DOF wide open. Was a terrible day, rained 5-6 times and very bad light but the primes came through.

You have MA on the 50D, I have no such luxuries so you don't really have anything to worry about, I have to say that the AF is spot on with the 30 and 85 on my focus charts.

After getting the 5DII, the Sigmalux hardly ever leaves the body. I really love the convenience of the zoom on the 24-105, but it really doesn't do anything special for me.

I'm thinking about trading in the 24-105 on a prime, but I'm not sure what to go with. Time will tell.

For now, I'm officially addicted to primes!

24 1.4L - 35 1.4L - 85 1.2L - 70-200 2.8L

If we solve for L we get X. Where X represents the cost of a small vehicle.
