i thought it was just me!
but ive learned to "deal" with it.

i havent cleaned my sensor yet, and i even change primes on the beach lol.
last time i looked inside it is still clean, and no dust spots show up on images.
but when i change lenses i do as fast as possible and shield the camera with my body and use another person with lens and lens cap ready.

sometimes i have to do it myself...well, most of the time (like if i go shooting by myself.) i think it helps if you have a vest or army pants or cargo pants (heck even a shoulder bag). i dont have a vest but i wear cargo and army shorts and those are great when i have to switch lenses.

I have been adopting an all prime setup on my 5Dc for some time.

As much as I love all my prime lenses, the frequency of dust getting into my sensor is really a pain. It seems like I need to get the sensor cleaned every other month. Do any of you face the same issue? I do change lenses when I am out.

5Dc is a real vacuum! All 5Dc users have this issue ;)
Try cleaning it yourself. Lot cheaper.

It's official...I'm a prime-o-holic. I just sold my Tammy 28-75 because it was collecting dust. I have done quite a bit of research, but was wondering what other members of PLA would buy for a go between lens. I have the siggy 30 mm and canon 85. Had the canon 1.4 and sold it. Not happy with it. LOVE my sigma 30. Like the colors and contrast. 50 mm has always felt strange on the 1.6 crop to me. Any other suggestions? Maybe I should take the sigma 50 for a spin. Or maybe (dare I suggest it) I should move to FF in order to change up some of my options. Thoughts....

my nifty 50mm had always felt just a bit long for me on a crop. i like the 50 when im in a "controlled" environment where i can control the distance to and from the subject.
the issue you may face with full frame is reach, i have a full frame and love it.
so far 35 f/2 and 85 f/1.8 and looking to eventually get ts-24, 50 1.4 and 135 f/2 (not in that particular order)

the 35 on my ff is kinda nice. a bit wide but i like it.

i think you have a nice setup. i dont know what you shoot or your shooting style or your budget but from the outside looking in looks good.

If you don't like the focal length, why bother trying another 50mm from another manufacturer? I think you should have fun with the 30 and 85 for a while.;)
Although, Zeiss Makro Planar sounds interesting. Hahahaha..

It's funny, the other day I found myself in a situation that I could have used a bit more reach than the 30 offered me but the 85 was a bit long. In the end I made it work with the 85. Wasn't that big of a deal, outdoors, I just foot zoomed out a bit. Really that is what shooting fixed focal length lenses are all about. I think you are right on the money and I should work the hell out of my two lenses and take my understanding of them to the next level. Keep it simple, this is what primes are all about to me. I was just wondering if there were any manual focus/fast primes that are not that expensive that maybe I should take a look at for fun. BTW, I don't even want to start looking at the Zeiss stuff!!!:)

You could always get an M42 adapter and play with very many cheap primes. Theres a Yashinon 50mm f/1.4 and of course the Asahi Super-Tak/SMC 50mm f/1.4 both of which are good, I don't have a lot of fun manual focusing on a crop DSLR but hey your eyes are probably better than mine. You can also get a whole host of 135mm lenses I just found a 16 blade f/3.5 in a cupboard I never even knew I had.

Doh it was raining a couple of days ago so I bought a 50D. It's a bad thing in that I love it soo much I'm now going to have to buy anaother to replace my two 40Ds so I can still have a prime on each. Got to say that all the stuff I read about the 50D not being sharp etc etc is a load of old chaff. I'm a pixel peeper and it so sharp with the 85/1.4 on it you could cut yourself, I even upsized my tests shots to 18MP (5184x3456) so they were the same as the 7D I had. I don't know if the 7D I had, hated and then sold had a fault but the 50D upsized image blows the 7D out of the water.

Hmm another 50D then ..oh a Sigma OS 150mm macro, I'm sure I need one of those ;)

Yeap that's right!
One thing I always regret is selling my SMC Takumar 50 1.4. It's sharp, I mean SHARP.
Compared wide open, it's sharper than EF 85 1.8. The bokeh is nice, and manual focusing is enjoyable. I will post a sample and 100% crop ASAP.

Cheers! :D

I am always so tempted to go all primes. I feel envious of gear lists with only a 5D2 and 1 or 2 primes. Yet I see so many of my shots are with my 24-105, and now that it's summer my 70-200 is getting a lot of use in the back yard with my kids. Still, my "best" shots are always with my primes. I could sell my 24-105 and add a Sig 50 and most of a 100 2.8 macro. Soooo tempting.
