I would go for the 200mm f/2 over the 1.8. Its sharper plus it has IS.

My name is Tim, and I only shoot with primes.
[GIFS ARE NOT RENDERED IN QUOTES]

I have a couple zooms that really don't ever leave the house. I shoot 99% of everything using primes. Personally, making the switch from zooms to primes has probably done more to improve my photography than any other decision I've made.

This pretty much applies to me too.
Except my name isn't Tim. :p
Its Elliott. :D
I love my primes. ;)

No sense and unfortunately not enough money.

Hi,

My Name is Ian and I'm a prime addict. Yes, I have 2 zooms that I use a lot to support my habit. I also suffer from 35L lust  .

28 f/1.8 (to be sold for the 35L)
50mm f/1.4 (to be sold for the 35L)
85mm f/1.8 (irreplacable)
135L (perfect on a 5D)
180 f/3.5 EX macro (uh, wow)
300 f/4 IS (very versatile with the IS)

Wow, I can't believe it took me this long to find this thread. I am also a primeaholic. I have a 24-70 still but find myself foot-zooming for a long time before I realize I can zoom again.

It takes a certain personality and knowledge to work with primes only but there is no going back now.

Chris

My zooms still play a big part in my shooting style......I pop three of them in the bag and then hang it on the tripod hook.... makes for much improved stability when using the longer primes.

I own a 50mm 1.4 (I use this lens a lot). I don't have L Prime money at the moment.

I am about to pull the trigger on an 85L and a 24L (I had a hard time figuring out if I wanted 24L or 35L) to go with my 5D II.

I have been out of photography for awhile and previously I used mostly zooms (24-70 L and 70-200 2.8 IS) so it should be fun to try something new. :)
