Hi guys,

I want to ask for prime lovers' opinions about 24LII VS 35L for 7D. My current setup is 7D, 10-22; 24-105; 50 f1.4; 85L. Might be considering second body 1Ds2 in the near future too. What do you think? 24 or 35? Never used both of them at all.

They're both really good choices. Which FL would you be more comfortable with?

On the 7D:

35L = 56mm
24L = 38 mm

It kind of depends on your style of shooting. What focal length do you use most often use?

For me that would be a good change. But the versatility of a telephoto zoom is hard to beat.

I know, but I think I'm not a pro, so I like the smaller dimension of 200mm... now I have sigma 30mm, canon 60mm macro and canon 85mm 1.8...the ideal solution would be the 135L, but it's too expensive...

If you want the 135L then I would recommend that you just wait and save up.

I don't care what anyone says, the 50mm 1.8 MKI is something special. I've shot so many awesome pics with this lens. No, the AF isn't the fastest in the league, but so what. It's sharp, very sharp wide open. I've had the 85 1.8 (too much purple for me) and Sigma 50 1.4 (sold my first 50 MKI for it, then sold the Siggy and got another 50 MKI as part of the deal). I sold both of 'em but I still have my Nifty OLD fifty. The Siggy was nice, but overhyped TO ME. My current prime lineup is: 50 1.8 MKI, 100 2.8 USM (non L), 200 2.8 L, So yes, I do have experience with some good glass. I am here to represent the 50mm 1.8 MKI as one of the best fast primes out there. I'm not an L snob, good glass is good GLASS, so attack me if you want. The barrel or weathersealing or USM or IS or anything doesn't show up in a print; maybe the advantages of having them helps for certain shots. Good glass is good glass. Thank you for my 5 minutes of fame. Here comes trouble...

Oh man, just added the 85 1.8 to the list of goodies. I can't wait until this one arrives. Did I mention I needed an intervention. :D

Sharpness is about the same. the 100 f/2 has much less CA

I think I must qualify for this group.

The last three lens I purchased are the most exciting lens I have ever worked with.

Bought in this order...

50mm f1.4

24mm f1.4 L

85mm f1.2 L

An orgasm of bokeh!

Hey Prime Lovers. I just ordered a 5DII and it comes in next tues. I am already thinking about going primetime as I really want that nice creamy bokeh and sharpness you all love. I was wondering how many of you would make this switch?

Sell
24-105 f4 IS
70-200 f4 IS

Buy
35L
85 1.8
135L or 200 2.8

I am assuming most will say make the switch to primes considering this is a prime lovers thread but wanted to get some opinions on this. I am getting into portraiture, landscapes and street photography with a sprinkle of zoo/animal photography. Thanks!
