Here are some Eagle shots from the other side of the north Pacific.

IMAGE: http://i704.photobucket.com/albums/ww42/owashi/IMG_9203.jpg

An adult Stellers Sea Eagle at Yakumo this afternoon. A grey sleety snowy day was not so great for taking photos alas.

IMAGE: http://i704.photobucket.com/albums/ww42/owashi/IMG_9217.jpg

Also around in similar numbers were White Tailed Eagles.

IMAGE: http://i704.photobucket.com/albums/ww42/owashi/IMG_9224.jpg

And non bird predator of the day was this Red Fox.

IMAGE: http://i704.photobucket.com/albums/ww42/owashi/IMG_9382.jpg

All shots taken with Canon 400D and 100-400L. Some minor cropping but not much.

I'm praying for some sunny weather next time I go back for the Eagles.....

Lovely shots, thanks for sharing! The fox might be 1/3 stop under but that is being picky.

Sunny or not, these are some great shots. Never seen these guys posted before. Are they both Sea Eagles? Our Bald Eagle is considered a Sea Eagle, although they are known to take ducks and small animals, and of course, road kill. But they seem to prefer fish, even going hungry when there are few fish but plenty of warm ducks around who have gotten so use to them they don't even 'duck' when one flies close overhead. :)

Both the above species are closely related to the Bald Eagle.......

Wow, you got pretty close to these animals to catch these with a 100-400 lens. Good job.

The Stellers Sea Eagle was about 50 feet away, the White tailed was about 25 feet away (shot from the car window) and Red Foxes are incredibly tame in Hokkaido (people even feed them scraps!)...........
