Caught this one on the back fence eye-balling the bird feeder area. Quickly grabbed the camera and fired off two shots before it was gone.

I'm leaning towards sharpie, but could be a coopers.

Sharpie, since he looks to be 10" tall and with the tiny white bar at the end of the tail.

Very nice shot. This looks a lot like the one I got in my yard, but while it looked like this one, it was twice the size of a sharpie, so a Coopers Hawk.

I'm going to agree with Will about it being a Sharp-shinned Hawk. Great to get of a few frames....great image. Nice and sharp.

Is that a 4X4 it's perched on?

Thanks for the nice comments everyone. I managed the shot handheld and noticed after the fact the IS was set on mode 2 for panning. Could have been even better with some setup time.

Duane, yes, that's a 4x4 it's perched on.

It's still around nearby, cause there aren't any yardbirds around gorging themselves on seed and fruit and breads. My wife hasn't even seen this photo yet, but I'm in serious trouble ;) with her. She has sat out there in the cold for hours trying to get a shot, I go to let the dog outside, and a minute later have this.
