I just made a custom Camera profile for my 30d using the Adobe DNG profiler using the two chart method, 2850K and 6500K, and loaded into Lightroom 2.2. So far it works great (a nifty program by the way). It creates one profile from the two white balances. The colors seem to be more accurate than the new Adobe profiles.

My question is this...
I made the profile using my Tamron 28-75 lens, a lens which at least to me has a warmer tint than my canon lenses. Will the profile I made with the Tamron only be good with that lens, and do I need to make other profiles with my other canon lenses? In other words, are DNG profiles "lens specific"?

Seems like you answered your own question! ;) I know Lightroom can apply a default camera profile based on serial number (camera) or ISO, but I haven't come across a way to do it by lens. That'd be a nice little addition.

Thanks Victoria. Done! Maybe in the next version. Also, it would be nice if they went a step further and integrated the DNG profiler with Lightroom.

By the way, I've profiled several canon lenses and my Tamron 28-75. The Canon profiles were all very similar to each other and to the new Adobe profiles for Canon in Lightroom, but the Tamron lens was definitely different and needed a specific profile. I don't think that most people realize this when using non-Canon lenses with Adobe Canon camera profiles.

Light source profiles, lens profiles, double the number if you have two bodies from the same model. Comes a point where you say,"Close enough is good enough."

I'm with Elie on this...
Then again, if the feature can be added easily, and with a "no" tickbox, why not?
