Hey everyone! My name is Umar :mrgreen: and as you can tell im a new here, and pretty new to photography in general. I shoot with a Rebel xsi but my lense was smashed :( and no insurence, I know, stupid me. So ill be looking for a new EF-S 18-55mm IS lense or something similar. I heard I can get this lense for like $50? haven't found it that cheep yet but i'm still looking.lol Well I don't have my own website or anything but you can talk to me or see my photos here or here.

Sad news about the lens. I doubt you'll find one for $50 unless there's something wrong with it. Lenses tend to hold their value really well, and $50 is a 65% devaluation. Tend not to see an average to 'link new' used lens sell for more than 15% off the price of a new one and even then it's usually 5-10% range. You could probably pick up a used Canon 50mm 1.8 II for $50 if you keep an eye out for one.

Edit: Checked out your flickr. Looking good especially if you are new to photography!

yeah ive been looking and cant seem to find one at that price but i know ive seen it lol maybe it was the 50mm f/1.8 is what i saw :P well thanks, yeah im pretty new. i havent shot since november though bec thats when i got in to my accident. so im slowing coming back. got a new body so just trying to find a lense now.

Welcome to POTN Umar. Yes you can get the 18-55 non IS or the 50 f/1.8 very reasonably. Got to start somewhere ;-)a
