Intrigues me a little that the model 1200RX - with translucent plastic body - uses a 300W modeling lamp. Thus, the line BX-RI uses similar materials and could not use the same modeling power? That is, I wonder if the limitation of 150W Line BX-RI was only one more limited marketing to keep the line as a pro-entry?

...assuming, of course, that we can use the 2-pin adapter.

Well, a few days ago I bought a "Elinchrom Halogen Lamp Adapter" and I'm using one of my BX 500 RI strobe with an halogen lamp base GX 6:35 - 300W. And has worked very well. The fan run a little bit more if compared with a 150W halogen lamp.

Important is that the mains voltage here is 220V. Thus, 300W at 220 volts produces a current of 1,36A. Maybe if someone do it on 110v have problems because the fuse of modeling lamp of the BX RI is 2,5A, and as we know: 300W in 110V produce a current of 2.72A.

I plan to test for more time only in this strobe. I will use it as main light to increase speed and accuracy of focus. Maybe, in short future I put the 300W modeling lamp in another five strobes too.

I think the BX500 modeling bulb base might be the same as my BX400's and I swapped the 150W that came with it for a 250 watt and later when I wanted to mount an Elinchrom satin glass dome on one of the lights and the bulb was too long, I was able to get a bare (without glass sheeth) Profoto 150W bulb and now use that under the satin glass dome.
