Don't think I have posted here? My avatar is old - very old.
Started on a pen forum when I got my Montblanc pens (which I still have years later). Took a photo with a Canon A610 at the time. Cropped it down, used it in IM with friends, on the forum and sort of kept it as my "signature". Ah and when I first moved to the UK I kept in touch with friends by mail.

I still write notes in fountainpen - love to scribble in fountainpen too, of course with iron gallus ink :D. (first Montblanc Blue Black, now Montblanc Midnight Blue)

I guess I could take a new better photo with the 100mm macro on my 5D MK II, but I have sort of stuck to the original.

My avatar is one of my earliest DSLR photos. I got my Canon 40D back in 2008 a short while before going to visit my best friend who was studying in Hamburg. We met in Amsterdam and spent a few days there before hitting the road for his final exam and to visit a few more cities. You can see several more photos from this trip in my thread Euro Trip 2008 - Amsterdam, Brussels & Köln.

The image I use for my avatar is a photo of a rollup garage type door for a store front that was painted with this crazy face. It had all sort of great colors, but when I did a B&W conversion I really liked how all the colors mapped to different tones. Both the photo and the editing are very early DSLR & post processing work for me, before I knew how to use PS (I didn't even know what Curves did back then). So it is pretty much straight out of the camera, cropped and a B&W conversion. Sometimes I think about going back and re-editing these photos with what I have learned since then.

After selecting this as my avatar, it also led to my handle: heldGaze. The avatar and handle just seemed to go together. So, without further delay, here is a forum display sized copy of my avatar.

Mine is photo of "Mr. Wilson," a cat we adopted from Animals In Distress shelter. Unfortunately, he is no longer with us as he succumbed to cancer two years ago. But he'll always be loved and remembered.

Mine is a pair of red converse. I used to wear these as a boy, and my siblings tease me and make sure I still get a pair every year for either Christmas or my birthday. I still call them "gym shoes". :-)

Mine is a photo I took of Kevin Schwantz at Laguna Seca, way back in 1991.
He later went on to win the 500GP championship.

I changed mine to Frodo from The Lord of the Rings because the Title Fairy
bestowed upon me this incredible title! (Tolkien)

In reference to a post I made in this thread >"What do you like about Amass" (post #127)

edit April 2016: Looks like I got whacked by the TF again. ('Half-baked') Probably change avatar to a muffin! In reference to this post here!

My middle grandson is a junior at the college of Professional Sales at Florida State University.

He's been a great fisherman all his life - as well as good at all sports.

And an extrovert !! ... if there's ever been anyone made for sales, he's the guy. He made 100 on his final in Sales Communication, and is totally involved in networking with everybody.

He sends me pics pretty regularly.

Not to many Comedians make me laugh, Achmed / Jeff Dunham do.

I would hope everyone would think my avatar is funny.
