Which Card To Buy???

I have a G6 and a scandisk 256 mb card, feel I should go bigger.
Any suggestions.....make..​. size??

Speed differences between different suppliers will not be noticeable when taking photos using the G6. However id recommend a 1gb. In Large super fine mode youll get close to 650 pops.

I'm using a Sandisc 1gb Extreme III. Works great. John

1 GB is the way to go, especially if you shoot RAW.

There is a school of thought that multiple "medium" cards (256 meg) are better than just a few huge or a single (1 gig) card. If you have 400-500 images on that 1 gig card and have a problem there is a good chance you'll lose all the images. If you have that spread across multiple medium cards then you still have something.

Personally I have about (4) 256 meg cards and shot for maximum resolution, minimum compression. I get about 110 images per card in that mode.

I partially agree ... but don't underestimate the danger of confusion.

I lost pictures by formatting the wrong of several cards I had not yet downloaded

Unfortunately it was a 1 gig card, so worse came to worst.

Heading to Florida today and I think I will pick up a bigger card on the trip.

What about a 512 to get the best of both worlds??

Do you recommend keeping the setting on superfine?

I have a 512, but for my next trip to Ladakh I will buy another 512 and plan to send it home as soon as it is full, for fear of loss.

I would go with at least a gig myself, currently we have a 4Gig Microdrive that came with my camera, and its been working great. I know people don't want to chance pictures getting lost with a 4 Gig card and several 1 Gigs would be to be prefered, but you don't complain when it comes with the camera do ya? ;o)
I'd probably go with a 1Gig Microdrive myself.
