These have been taken over the last two days. The first day this little LEO was in rather deep cover.

But today he was sitting out in the sun and relatively unobstructed.

I like all of these Scott...I've never seen one of these in person. Looks like he's thinking "what you looking at" in the last 3 shots. Excellent detail and color in all of them.

Thanks Sharon....because they look similar to the very large GHO, they tend to look larger than life in photographs. This little guy was only about ten inches tall!

Actually Scott there 15 inches long, Boreals are 10 and the Saw-whets 8 inches,,, were these from Amherst, I was there on Saturday, maybe we bumped into each other and didn't even know it

Hi Wayne, I agree that LEO's are generally 15" long but this guy was the smallest I'd ever seen, certainly no more than 10" long. These were taken here in Oshawa at Thicksons Woods, but its funny as we were planning on going to Amherst on Saturday but at the last minute it didn't work out, so now we are planning to go in the next couple of weeks.
