When I have to edit the video my class shoots on the 5D Mk II, I like Sony Vegas for quickness and ease-of-use, but for more professional editing ( like for some of our commercials) I use Final Cut Pro Studio.

I'm surprised more PC users have mentioned Lightworks:

Went from Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10 to Sony Vegas Pro 11.0 and much happier with the Pro version, it has significantly more filters, adjustment, and render formats. It use all 8 threads of my Core i7, running on 12GB of ram but didn't see any difference with only 6GB ram either. :)

I used Windows Movie Maker for short videos and learned to really like it. However, as soon as I began making longer videos (more than about 10 minutes) and particularly when I started using HD video, it just kept crashing or refusing to produce a movie at the end of a lengthy effort. I searched and found AVS Video Editor, a totally free programme. It worked basically the same as Movie Maker, but has a different approach to how you go about adding text, music, etc. so I am still learning much of that. It does a good job for me so far. I recommend giving it a try, and the cost cannot be beaten.

I use Sony Vegas to edit. I don't own a 5d2 but a T2i and 7d. Sony Vegas is the easiest and fastest to use. Since I upload YouTube videos, it suits my needs.

Is Adobe Premiere Elements (PC) worth getting?

I'm looking to see what this movie marlarkey is all about, but don't want to shell out tonnes of dosh for features I don't need plus if I decide to keep it to the image only policy it would also be a waste of money

I'm looking for a free editor that can allow me to cut videos and possibly crop the size, any suggestions?

I am one of many photographers in Pittsburgh PA (external link) who loves to explore my craft and learn from others while doing so. my biggest passion is shooting goth pics (external link) and material of a darker nature.
