Congratulations! Now as soon as your wallet recovers, you can buy a really big CF card.

And macro lenses and a wide-angle and a telephoto and extra batteries and a Lensmate adapter and UV filter and lens cap without a tether and a Lowepro backpack to carry it all.

Ok, joking... forget buying anything (except perhaps the Lensmate and UV filter and untethered lens cap) until you've had a chance to explore your camera and get to know it.

I own the 550EX flash and sometimes wonder why -- I don't particularly care for flash photography but sometimes it's the only way to get the photo. Still, the internal flash is surprisingly good... and good enough for the moment.

I also broke down and bought the Canon 0.7x wide-angle after three years and I'm finding it a real nuisance to lug around and fit and take off, even though I have a Lensmate permanently mounted on it. It may hit the Marketplace forum pretty soon.

Really... enjoy your camera naked for a while before you start adding bits and pieces. But do buy an extra battery. Nothing makes you look so foolish as a dead camera.

Cheers,

Don

i didnt know if i should, especially since i've been having some financial difficulty, but its been so long since i've had a camera in my hand that i couldnt take it. both beach and butterfly photo have decreased their g6 prices steadily last week and when beach jacked up their price again yesterday i freaked and bought it from butterfly before they did it too. :D if i have enough money left over, ill get a 512 cf card. as for ext flashes and lenses, ill hold off on those until i get used to it first (and when im not living in borderline poverty).

Any of the G-cameras are great right out of the box. Don't worry about the other bits... although the bigger card and a second battery are pretty important. Then give it six months or a year before you decide to buy something for it.

Enjoy it... and don't forget to show us the results.

Cheers,

Don

:D They did the same thing to me - upgraded to next day for free... except I got talked into a second battery. I thought I was going to regret spending money on it, BUT I can tell you this - it's nice to have a backup battery because once the battery simbol starts blinking (low) - there is NOT much life left in it. The battery indicator is a bit missleading (unless I missed it): I don't think I ever saw it showing anything other than FULLY charged before it blinks as "VERY LOW BATTERY".

Good luck with new toy!
