Take your 24-105 out and zoom to each of the focal lengths you're interested in on the 40D.

exactly what I did(but on my 24-70.) I ended up getting the 35L and am in love with it. Since it's light and small - it comes with me everywhere.

5D III : 35/1.4L : 100/2.8L : 16-35/2.8L : 24-70/2.8L : 70-200/2.8L IS : 100-400L IS : Lensbaby 2

Canon FX : FL 50/1.8 and of course, my Holga:)

Does dust get into the 24L/35L easily?

I mean I will have a filter on all the time, but does it get between lets say the focus rings and such?

? Dust? I couldn't imagine any dust entering the 24L. Unless you start pouring dirt over the mount-end.

Great, I was worried that the lens might eat dust because some people say it isn't dust/weather proof. I was worried that dust would get in from the focus ring or something.
