Green-tailed Towhee

Here's a shot taken yesterday of a Green-tailed Towhee. This was taken in southern New Jersey, which is way out of range for this bird. It has only been recorded as being seen in NJ six other times, the last being about 23 years ago. It was a great sighting for me and a spectacular life bird to start off 2009!

I posted a green tailed towhee in the past. They are really cute birds to watch. I didn't see any in 08, hope to this year....nice capture!

Thanks all. The bird is being well documented and reported to the NJ records committee. There has been a steady stream of birders over the past 5 days this bird has been showing up at this residential location.
