Any other bags similar to the 7MDH?

I don't have access to many camera stores, only one small local one. The only nice camera bag other than backpacks that I've examined in person is the Crumpler 7MDH. I really like it, and want a shoulder-carry style bag that is sufficient for 3 lenses, 40D, 580ex and smaller accessories, before I splurge on that one are there other similar build bags you could recommend that are durable?

I'm not a brand junkie, I love the way the crumpler bags looks & feels, but I hate to blow $130 on it if there is a comparable and cheaper alternative. Right now I'm lugging my stuff in an insulated wine carrying bag (works surprisingly well but a little on the wide/bulky side ) so I'm looking forward to moving up. :D

I did look in the "show me your bag thread" but it seems that most were backpack style and I didn't really notice any others very like the crumpler, except for a (also high dollar) Domke. I'd love any recommendations or just a "shut up and get the crumpler" advice, whichever you have to offer. Thanks!

Tenba makes a slightly similar bag - also carries a small laptop - kind of a canvass look to it - a bit more narrow and a bit deeper- but about the same $$, so suck it up and get the Crumpler! You got a couple grand (at least) worth of equipment, give it the safe home it deserves. I think in this case, you get what you pay for. There are some used ones that can be found too(I think even on this forum).

I have a photographic memory, just wish I'd remember to take the lens cap off more often!

Tenba might actually be better for me then... I've gotten a bit spoiled with the deep one I've been using and like that I can put my camera with 70-200 lens attached in vertically (reversing hood) right in when I'm in a hurry, which you can't do with the 7MDH.

Are there any others that are durable and deeper for shoulder bags in comparison to the crumpler?

I've bought several crumplers on the for sale board here for around a hundred bucks shipped and paypal'd. Saves a little bit of cash. There's also thinktank, but those are expensive too.
Here's a website to check out. You can check out a lot of different bags by different style.

The 7MDH is the $hit but Domke's J803...or is it F803. i always get that part confused, with the purchase of inserts, is just less and a nice bag as well. I prefer the 7MDH simply because it looks so nice and stylish, perfect for weddings. I've gotten lots of compliments in how my camera bag fits the occasion and not just these junk bags they see people use.

I use one of those for everyday stuff but whatever. :D

Check out the Domke F-803, F-4AF or F-6 - all DOmke bags are rugged as you could possibly want; well worth the price.

Looked at the Domkes & the Tenba... I really like how the tenba has the zipper flap opening for quick access. If I need to put my camera away quickly and tend to a child that would be ideal.

Does anyone know if the tenba will hold a 40D with 70-200 lens vertically and comfortably close?

It should (I didn't try with mine - but had my 100 macro on it) - the Tenba is deeper than the 7MDH - but narrower - so I found I had to dig more to get at things. It seems to work the best with no lens mounted. It's got all sorts of pockets and access panels, etc - I just found the 7MDH organized my lenses a little better (but no laptop). I'm pretty sure it will not work with a grip attached and the 70-200...
