can you actually buy lenses for the pro1?? im a newbie and keen to learn so i have come to you guys to guidance!!

You can get add-on lenses such as this one (external link), which attach to the camera in front of the built-in lens. Looks like you also need to buy an adapter for connecting it to the camera (I've got a G5, and that's how it works, and I see they sell one at B&H, so...).

All you get with a fixed lens camera (like all the PowerShot series) is add-on conversion lenses. No, you cannot slap on a 400mm zoom lens or replace the existing lens with a super wide angle lens. To get that functionality, you need to get an SLR camera like the 20D or Rebel XT...

Not really, the Pro 1 is an inbetween camera for people who want something more serious than a point and shoot without going all the way to DSLR.
Lens's cost a lot, if you dont want to spend much on your camera then its silly getting a DSLR.
