Just got a new 40D, got it mostly figured out, about the same as my 30D, but...

as I play with it I am taking some pictures BUT i have no memory card in it. It displays the pictures, but when I try to delete them it says no CF card. where are the pictures and how do I delete them, I cant find them anywhere....

I'm not sure but I imagine that as the buffer fills, the oldest shots are deleted. I automatically set my bodies to not shoot without a card.

I have never checked this but all you will find is the 'last' one taken, it is not stored when no CF card is present so there is nothing to delete or save that is why you cannot find "them".

HTH :)

That was a great meal ~ you must have a good set of pans :p

The camera doesn't have internal memory, thus the images aren't saved if you shoot without a card. The images are just held in a buffer.

You are correct.

The OP has his new 40D set to take photos without card (for practice). All he has to do is to change that option to NO on the menu, and insert a new card in the camera, keeping in mind that he (or she?) should use a newly formatted card, not one from another camera with photos in it already.
