Wide angle adapter

Probably a daft question, but is the focal length fixed when using the wc-dc58n wide angle adapter at (35mm equiv) 24.5 mm, or can it still use the zoom - I guess making it a 24.5 - 98 mm lens?

Does anyone have any information on the quality of the image using the lens - barrel distortion, fringing etc?

Max was very positive about the quality of thw wc-dc58n. He shared some great info.
