canonloader Cream of the Crop More info | Jan 06, 2009 06:18 | #5 No, a TC won't improve Minimum Focus Distance. If you are shooting birds fairly close though, like under 30 feet. you defiantly want to invest in a set of Kenko tubes. One of the best kept secrets in photography. Kenko tubes have no glass. They are just extender tubes with the contacts in them so the lenses will report to the camera and autofocus. They don't eat the light coming through, but they do magnify the image that hits the sensor, so it appears to magnify, but with no loss of IQ or shutter speed. The downside is, you do lose Maximum Focus Distance, so they are only good if you know you are going to shoot fairly close. Mitch- ____...^.^...____
