Come along....Carnival Cruise lines...heading out of Galveston. :D

I thought the last hurricane relocated the Galveston port to Dallas?

I am very sensitive to boat motion, tho I would like to try a photo cruise. I can get motion sickness on dry land watching a boat or even a dock moving on the water, and it doesn't have to be rough water either!

I went with a desensitization method. Took the boat to Catalina and threw up the hole way there. And I mean bad. I spent an hour and a half holding onto the pole at the back of the boat. After that I was done. The ride back was fine and I've been all over sense without a problem.

I have considered taking a cruise, but I think the only one I would be interested in would be the Alaska inside passage cruise. Cruises to the Mexican Rivera whould be just more of the same. I've been to Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta, La Paz, and Cabo San Lucas, not to mention Costa Rica...

Skrim17 wrote in post #7113483 (external link)
I too would like to do the Alaskan cruise thing. Someday..

I sooooo want to go on the Alaskan cruise! Hubby keeps saying "Titanic! Titanic!" He is willing to go to warm waters though and I don't want to go to the hot places! I'll roast! So, unless I go alone, I doubt I will ever get to the Alaskan cruise.

You know...you can always go out and buy it from a restaurant. ;)

You may be thinking of Houston...or perhaps Corpus Christi. Either way, they've told us that Galveston should be up by April.

There is a motion sickness patch that many people have recommened for us. That may help a bit.

I've tried it!

My brother is a commercial fisherman, as a younger man he was a mate on a boat run out of Montauk by Frank Mundus, the character that the salty captain Quint in the movie Jaws was fashioned after. He was sick for three days straight and no way was Mundus going into shore for him and ever since he's never been sick again.

If I ever get to go on my Alaskan cruise I'll have to try one of those. I get sooo motion sick! I can get car sick when I am driving!

Ah...well, I guess the only thing for ya is to rent a boat and head out to sea for a few days .
Edit: for Crissa of course.

Another thing I've heard that should help with motion sickness, is to keep an eye on the horizon. Even I've gotten motion sickness before on a Coast Guard ship.....but I was down in the ship with no windows available.

I've only been on one cruise ship through the Caribbean. I will say that I never felt the ship move. Maybe just a little when it would start to move coming away from the dock but that's it. However, when we got off of the ship at an island I could feel the lack of motion when I was on solid ground.

Thanks. Why don't you shoot a couple of shots of the top of the camera and detail on the lens and I'll see if I can sort out the dials for you?

Ok. :D
