I think it's got a good composition with nice leading lines and good sharpness.
One thing I'd like to see is more tonality in the shot.

Yeah I am thinking the same about the filter to be honest, might go back when I get chance (and buy some new gloves, took me an hour or more to start feeling my fingers after this one). Thanks on the rest

Thanks, but could you explain what you mean by more tonality?

Cheers

I like it as is.

I think the star filter adds a bit of "zing" to an otherwise industrial-esque image.

BTW, you may panic now Penfold. ;)

Nice shot, Phil. It's certainly a popular location but always worthy of a piccie :)

Have you visited the UK South-East Thread? We organise lots of meets around London and the SE.

It's a good shot I think, and I don't mind the star filter look as it's not too in your face here.

Personally, I just can't wait for a few of those cranes to finish up. They're always ruining shots like these :)

I kinda like them. Presumably there will be some enormous generic glass tower office block there instead. From the ground it looks like its going to be massive.

My guess is that it was not a star filter, but a long exposure. I like it. They say that the Millennium Bridge twists, but it looks stable in this image.

I'd like to see more range of tones. I think the sky and the water are close to mid tone and too dominating. Perhaps if one was darker than the other it would contrast more.

I'm not so sure it wasn't a filter. Usually with a small aperture opening, you get a star effect where all the "arms" are the same length.

In this photo, four on each specular highlight are noticeably longer...

It WAS done with a star filter! Think I will go back and try without.

And what do people mean by the tones? and tips for changing them to how you mean?

It may just be the elements you've chosen to include but there is a great deal of the same level of grey...

The water matches the bridge abutments matches the dome matches the...

It may be your method of B&W conversion perhaps. May we see the color version?
There may be ways to bring one range up or pull a different one down more.
