The next camera will probably be a 1100D\T2 or a 600D\T3i. Canon loves cranking out the rebels every 3 months.

:p Canon kind of left us hanging with no appearance of a T2 or T1.

Look at the line up..... Why is there an empty space??? Making room for the 60d maybe?

lol, You'd think they'd format that a little better.
The better question is why do they list the Rebels by both there US and European/everywhere else names?
*EDIT: oh, ok, one takes you to the European Canon sight, one takes you to the US.

I think they realized that they have confused the hell out of everyone! :)

Honestly, if they still want to use the "Rebel" and "Kiss" trademarks in US and Japan, they could at least still stick to the same numbers. Why not have EOS 550D, Rebel 550D, and Kiss 550D, instead of 550D, Rebel T2i and Kiss X4. That is not confusing at all!

It makes you wonder why they did it in the first place. Maybe it's because us Americans just aren't good of keeping track of numbers? :p But seriously, I don't get it! I have to think it's a psychological thing. I admit I can much more easily keep track of the Rebel letter system than the xxxD/xxxxD system, but maybe I'm just not used to the numbers.
My second guess is that America ALWAYS has to be different. Measurements, temperature, the whole soccer/football thing, and now cameras?

Nope. That's just a weird display of cameras. They have an icon for the USA and Non-USA names such as T2i/550D, and XS/1000D.

There is no gap here, which is where I view Canon products: www.canoneos.com (external link)

then I'm your complete opposite:p maybe I've missed something, but how can one tell if an xsi is older or newer than a t1i, just by looking at the name!? although when speaking of the xxxD and xxxxD-series in relation to each other, I can see the lettering system making some sense, but then what about relating xxxD to xxD? -the latter is in numbers only..! And if you can keep track of the xxD's by numbers then how can it be more difficult to follow the xxxD's or the xxxxD's by numbers!?

Right up to Canon's introduction of the 7D, it was easy, the 10D, then 20D, 30D, 40D, 50D.........., But the 7D has thrown a spanner into that orderly progression. Now everyone's guessing, will there, wo'nt there be a 60D? And where does that leave the full frame/crop frame numbering, which once upon a time ran 1,3,5 for full frame?

I have never understood why Canon came up with daft names when the number system worked so well. The "Kiss", whats that all about? Might as well have a body called the "Grievous Bodily Harm", "Love at First Sight" or maybe a 3D camera called "Double Vision".

Because the 7D is not part of the xxD series, which I believe will continue. It's a high-performance camera for a sports shoots that can't fork up the dough for a 1-series body. It's also a high end crop for those that don't want to go FF or that can't spend the money for a 5D II. It is a step above the xxD series. Still leaves room for the 60D.

I;m sure we have had this argument in this thread, but what room is left? You have the T2i and the 7D already. How can you distinctly differentiate the 60D between those two cameras. Put the t2i sensor and video in the 50D and call it an upgrade? I think that would be a dissapointment. To me it would make more sense to just wait a year, drop the price on the 7D to $1200 and come out with a 7Ds or 7Dmk2, or whatever back at the $1800 price point. Repeat cycle every 2 years.

We certainly have!

by not making it a high end crop sports/action camera, but rather a high end (higher than 550D, but not as high as 7D) crop lowlight/movie camera (kinda like the crop-version of the 5D-line perhaps)

To me it would make more sense to just wait a year, drop the price on the 7D to $1200

I've said this before, but why would Canon throw money out of the window?

Wait, so a low megapixel (to help with noise at high ISOs) low FPS, low end AF made for lowlight and movies in a prosumer body ???
I actually am part of Canon's market that would get the 60D possibly. I was deciding between the T2i and 40D, the 40D for the ergonomics/speed, the T2i for the video/low-light performance. I'd imagine the 60D to be a t2i in the body of a 50D with faster fps/AF, at a price point lower than the 7D, as I don't need all the 7D bells and whistles.

Wow, just realized this is an endless cycle of speculation. We'll just have to wait and see. My guess is that if we don't see a 60D by 2011 (or even November for that matter) we won't see one ever. Otherwise...just think what people will do if/when this thing gets announced?

maybe not an exact translation of the 5D line to crop, but in that direction at least.. think a crop version of a 5Dmk2 merged with a 50D or something... they have to differentiate it from the 7D at least..

hehe, yeah... well I've always said the end of august -if its not here when september starts, my doubt will start to come as well, but yeah november/before 2011 is maximum..
