Except you can right now buy a 7D for about $1425 body only and so what do you think you could get it for in another 6 months? About what the 60D will be going for at release?

I would like to know where one can get such a good deal (a friend of mine is considering the 7D; it's well too late for me, unfortunately, lol). As far as I can tell, most reputable retailers still have the 7D body-only for around $1699. Of course I am speaking of brand-new, not used. $1425 is a steal!

In any case, Canon's actual SRP for the 7D remains at $1699, and this price will no drop any time soon. So this is the price-point where the 7D sits. I will maintain what I said earlier about the 60D's price point (if the 60D comes into existence). The T1i's price had dropped before the T2i was announced, and the 50D's price is dropping, perhaps an indicator of the 60D coming soon. With the new models in each line out, Canon will once again be established in all three price points/market segments, entry-level (~$800), prosumer (~$1300), and mid-range/semi-professional (~$1700). I'm not sure if the XXXXD (1000D/Rebel XS) line is continuing. And obviously I left out the flagship 1D series as well as the Full Frame 5D line and 1Ds series. That's another story so I won't go there.

My cousin had a whole shipment of these fall off the back of a truck in Jersey...

Not unless you get some exceptional oddball deal with bing cashback or something like that. The price of the 7D hasn't budged one dollar at any of the reputable retailers (Adorama, B&H, etc.). The price of the 7D is $1699, and that's where it's going to remain for a while. It took the 5D Mark II over a year to drop at all in price, so the 7D could take that long as well.

Yes.

According to that ancient, totally unreliable, uninformed rumour, it's SD only...

it seems like in the last several years, canon hasn't updated the xxd line untill they have a new processor
30d had digic 2, 40d had digic 3, 50d had digic 4
so I am guessing the 60D will come out when they get the digic 5 developed.. I just hope it is soon. and I hope it brings big changes, like even better iso performance than the 7d :)

You realize that "digic" is just the name of Canon's CPU, right? Like Intel's Pentium. Faster CPU's are needed to throughput increasing MP count image sensors and perform more and more noise reductions. A faster CPU can do more to the image data than its previous older CPU. That's all. Image improvements related to faster CPU's are nearly all for JPG output only since RAW data is RAW data.

Did they buy a whole shipment with the money left to them by an unknown relative from their country?
