I haven't been real active either but I'm hoping for more shooting time this weekend. If I can get the family to help harvest grapes that is... It's that time of year for jelly and wine!

Jon.

Caro, MI is having their annual pumpkin festival October 1-4- lots of great photo ops there. I went last year and they also had a car show. So get your gear ready and come on over! Here is a link to their site: http://www.tuscolapumpkinfest.com/ (external link)

Next weekend is the last weekend for the Michigan Renaissance Festival. If you haven't gone yet, get there! It's a great place to shoot.

Jon.

Troy, here ya go... SRI: http://www.mstrp.com/schedule.php (external link)

I wish I had the money :(....NOT A CHEAP TRIP!

Thanks for the heads up on this Mike.

It did stop here to pick up a few passengers, which gave two photo ops per direction as I raced ahead.

It was a poor day for photography, dark and raining almost the entire day. I've been denied again getting aerial photos, so I just did what I could. A video camera was under the lifted tailgate of my mini van when it wasn't in the open covered with a hat. The Canon A640 had a rain shield over it and placed next to the tracks using the CHDK interval shutter hack, and I was shooting hand held with the XT and L lens.

With such dull colors, rain, and the fall colors just barely starting I processed with pseudo HDR using Dynamic Photo HDR (pseudo = single image fake hdr).

Here are a few of my favorites.

and a surprise from the A640 shooting auto. I have to do some repair to the photo, but think it turned out pretty cool anyway.

They're processed to look kind of like a painting.

Finally satisfied with the results as I usually only get one good photo a year.

I'm working on getting the videos uploaded too, I'll post them when available.

Nice shots Troy,

I never made it out for D.I.N.A. (Day in north america) Weather was too crappy and had a small family emergency. Which is fine, just means now I can go out and shoot for the railroad calendars.

I don't suppose you'd pass along any information on calendar photo submissions?

Sure, the only one I really know of that really wants submissions is McMillan Publications. There's a few more out there, but they seem to be locked up tight on submissions unless you have a "new" idea for a calendar.

This hasn't been updated, but I just recently asked them about 2011 calendars and the deadline is March 15, 2010

I like your WB better!

They don't pay much, but at least they do pay.

Some day, I'd like to make it down state to shoot with some of you. I've always wanted to go to the race track, but things never work out. If only I can make it through this winter everything will change. :D
