.....oh man...I love getting new toys :) You all have been making me drool over this whole idea of full frame for so long, I decided I wanted to see what it's all about. Now that used prices have fallen to where this stuff is affordable, I jumped on it. Wow....there is so much to learn about this thing....it's so freakin' customizable.....I'm going to have a blast just getting through the manual ! No duck photo yet.....I'll go duck hunting this weekend with it. So for right now, how about a couple shots OF it ??

I'm going to consider this my "fine arts" body, while the 50D works well as the "action/sports/low light" body. The 20D hangs in there as a second....er...third body.

I keep tossing and turning about a 1D but I'm thinking I'll get a 40D and just wait it out for the 1DmkIIn to drop a bit more or I can afford it.

[QUOTE][that looks like a nice clean one too boot. Mind sharing where you got it and the price?/QUOTE]

It really is a nice example. I bought it from KEH dot com. US$1429. This is the second body I have bought from them. Good to deal with, and their rating system on the condition is certainly very fair. Both cameras I bought from them were 'cleaner' than I expected.

Looks almost brand new, once you start getting some images shot, make sure you update this post! :D

Congratulations, and I've got to ask what you thought the first time you felt when your new 1Ds up?

oh, nice, that's exactly where I'm looking at 1Diis right now... What condition was that listed as? Did you check the actuations? I've bought film bodies from them before and lenses, but never a digital. I'm not against it, I just wish they could email pics of the specific body I'm considering....

Congrats. Good buy. Not many people even consider the 1Ds Classic anymore when going to FF for the first time. Very soon you'll probably come to love the incredibly crisp images from this camera. Shoot RAW, expose correctly, and it's all good!

It was listed as ex. I can't find a program yet to check the actuations. I just got it last night and have not had much time to play yet. If anybody know of a program that displays the actuations, I'd appreciate hearing about it.

Congratulations, and I've got to ask what you thought the first time you felt when your new 1Ds up?

Stick,
It's like everybody says: the thing feels like it's built to take a beating. Or GIVE a beating. Yep....like it's carved from a solid block of unobtanium. And the sound: it's amazing to me that all Canon cameras have a unique sound. I have four different dslr's sitting here....and can tell just from the sound which is tripping.

Martin, Thanks ! It looks like it has 25,900 actuations.
And thanks for all the comments everybody. I'll post up some shots from it when I get the chance to get out. Have to get the all important duck shot out of the way for the correct Canon/POTN calibration.....and now the forecast is calling for the mid 40's on sunday.....should be a good day to out to the zoo with the 400mm.

For right now....it's back to reading the manual !

Congrats on the buy. I agree, that thing is superb! For being a bit older, I expect it look that way, but yours looks brand new out of the box yesterday! Enjoy!!!
