I just cleaned my 5D with a sensor wand with E2 solution. I got all the dust off but I can see streaks on the sensor, is this normal? I clean my 30D with regular eclipse and pec pads and they leave no streaks at all.

Is this the first time you've cleaned the 5D?

Did you follow the specific instructions for E2 (different technique to regular eclipse fluid)?

E2 solution has isopropyl alcohol which means that there is a little water as well. I have been using the E2 since my XTi days and have found that after wet cleaning thoroughly, a final pass with a dry pec pad and sensor wand lightly gets rid of any streaks.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

I've used the original eclipse on my 5D and has been pretty good - no streaks - but the last time I cleaned it with the same stuff (I'm about out now) I had really bad streaks at the top and bottom of the sensor and corners.

I've since done it again and is better - but still not perfect. I need to get some more swabs as well. :(

I'm afraid to use regular eclipse and pec pads on my 5D, I have 2 sensor wands left with E2 and would rather save them for another clean later this year.

I usually notice some streaking if I've put a bit too much solution on the pad. Less solution is better. Helps to wait 30 seconds to let some evaporate before swabbing
