Alright, I ordered my 85 1.8 from B&H on th 5th, with free ground shipping. So, I get sent the UPS tracking # and page, and they say it will be here on the 9th. It left Maspeth, NY (B&H Warehouse?) the same day I ordered it [the 5th], 73 hours [3 days] later, and it still hasn't arrived anywhere!!

Am I paranoid? The longest UPS has gone before updating the tracking, was 24 hours (for me, at least).
Is 73 hours just TOO LONG?? Should I claim a lost package??

If they say it will be there on the 9th....then wait for the 9th....check the tracking later this evening....you will probably see it at your local hub.

For a long, cross-country trip, not seeing things update doesn't surprise me too much. Did it get there?

For comparison, I received a package yesterday, mailed on Monday, that according to the USPS tracking service still hasn't been mailed.

UPS ground ships by truck. It would have left a distribution center in New York enroute to another distribution center in your area.
I takes a few days to drive cross country and while it remains on the truck, there will be no updates.
When it arrives at its destination, it will get pulled from the truck and scanned in. THEN you get an update.

short5 and I bought some things from Permagrin; they showed leaving Portland, OR on 12/31 and there was no further record until 1/7 when they showed up in Laurel, MD. It's on the truck somewhere between Maspeth and your closest depot.

They do re-use tracking numbers on occasion. I had one order where the tracking data showed the package had been delivered to another city and state two years before I placed the order.

I ordered a 17-55 f/2.8 from Adorama and decided to pay for 3 day select shipping.

Oops. I ordered after Adorama's cutoff time and they didn't fill the order until the next day. Oh, well. Since the third day was Saturday, it'll be 5 day shipping instead.

I notice that UPS held it in Philadelphia for over 30 hours, presumably to make sure that I didn't get 2 day shipping when I paid for 3.

Sometimes it takes about a week to get to CA.
It will show up on the 6th or 7th day on your UPS tracking page.
If it is UPS ground, they can't really track it if it is still on the train.
