Resizing multiple pictures at once

I have a Rebel XSi and I was wondering if there was any way to resize multiple pictures at once, or compress them.

I don't need them in their original size, and would like them smaller, but when you have 100+ photo's, takes far too long to do it individually.

Any program that could help?

photoshop has batch processing commands - you simply 'record' the procedure to resize 1 photo correctly, then apply that recorded action to a folder of images or images open in photoshop already, and it will perform the same sequence on each image.

tip: for resizing horizontal & vertical images in the same command, don't use image > image size; use file > automate > fit image

You can also download IrfanView for free from the net and do batch processing VERY quickly.

Don't know how it technically matches up to Photshop, but it's free, opens nearly instantly and takes up almost no space on your hard-drive.

here's also a program called FSViewer, It's a great simple program for quick edits, batch processing, and organizing your collection. I think there's a link to it in the stickies under the post-processing board.

IrfanView (external link) is excellent free program for all kind of photo manipulations, I highly recommend it!

picasa is also a great tool from google. I use that to index all my photos. Its free and very slick... like all software written by the google folk. It'll batch resize very easily.

I use ACDSee. It uses the least computer resource.

Canon's Digital Photo Professional works quite well. I trust Canon to know their RAW to JPG conversion better than 3rd parties.

Yes, DPP works well for batch resizing. Even if you edit in CS4, save as jpg, then run your batch in DPP. If you don't need Adjustment Brush, Layer Mask, etc. for image edit, I'd just stay right in DPP and convert RAW from there.

Once you select your files, click Batch Process in upper right, select destination folder, add "web" or something to the file name, enter your JPG quality, pixel dimensions, and "Execute". It runs in the background so you can do other stuff.

I'm just learning Bridge, but believe it will do this also.
