I need to be convinced on one of these cameras! From what I read, they seem equal in terms of ISO performance, but not sure about handling. I don't know which one I should go after and I need your help to tell me which one to get and why.

If you want the highest image quality, then 5D2. ISO noise per pixel is about the same (5D2 is slightly better). But since 5D2 has 21 MP vs. D700's 12 MP, downsizing 5D2's photos further reduces ISO noise. Which one has the better lens lineup for the focal lengths you want/need to use? But these are not apples and apples as the Canon is FF. Or is a crop camera more important to your shooting style?
