I am using 5D right now and thinking about picking up another body for my wife as I succesfully convinced her to get into photography :D (actually for me, the wife will be using the 5D). I am quite happy with the 5D except for the dust problem. Which camera would you recommend from all of the above? I am a pixel peeper and very picky in term of Image quality. Do not really care for megapixels but care a lot in term of nice color, noise, etc (IQ).

5d mk ii is a mini-me of 1ds mk III. If you can afford it, i would go with 1ds mk III

There is no good reason to get a 1DS Mk 2 if you don't mind spending for the Mk 3.

And the main questions should be, what do you shoot? Does video matter? Do you care more for AF speed and accuracy or is saving $3000 important?

I don't understand why he just doesn't get another 5d, i don't see a point in upgrading because of dust ;)

Lazuka: I am not upgrading. I can not get my hand on a new 5D here. The distributor just do not have it in stock anymore.

The Hoff: I shoot people 90% of the time. Video does not hurt. I do care for AF Speed and accuracy. The people that I shoot are mostly under 5 years old, and man, are they fast or what? My wife did a surprisingly good job following the with the 5D. I did try it and just could not get it (I sucked). A lot of misfocus or not focus at all.

None of the above: Go buy a used XT and hand it to her.

Haha. I dont wanna get involed that comment just bothered me in every way...Your wife...get her what EVER you can afford...its not about the IQ you expect, its getting her to aquire all the skills to be ABLE to justify an upgrade...I bought my GF an XT and she couldn't handle it so we got rid of it...you have to test the waters before you drop a lot of coin

The 5DII and the 1Ds MII (used) are about the same price give or take $100-200, but the 1Ds MIII costs a lot more. Assuming price is not an issue (since it was one of the options), wouldnt you just go for the better camera?

I would have to say the 5D Mark II since I bought one. It is a great upgrade to my 5D.
