I shot this last night in the Spring Mountains overlooking Las Vegas. It was interesting to think that, here is a tree that is probably 2,000 years old, overlooking a city that is barely 50. That orange glow is Las Vegas in the lower-left corner.

Thanks!

One interesting thing about this shoot: I used Live View to focus with the 24mm. At 10x zoom, I was actually able to choose what DEPTH of the wood grain I wanted to focus on, in real time!

LiveView + 10x zoom focus assist is the most useful camera feature I have come across in years.

That's love, most of the lighting is moonshine is it? Makes for a very calm, yet also quite eerie atmosphere. And I like the dotted line of the passing aeroplane.

I'm realising I'm still crap when it comes to constellations...I don't recognise any of them in your image!

Awesome shot. The framing is wonderful, and so is the idea of pitting the old against the new.
