Just got the G6 last weekend and it's the first camera that I've had that shoots in RAW mode. Is there anyway to get windows XP to allow me to preview or view the images as thumbnails in the folder so I can see what they are rather than having to load them into PSCS?

You and your new camera deserve BreezeBrowser... give the free trial a try... www.breezesys.com (external link). Check out Breeze Downloader while you're there.

No XP won't show you the pictures. Use Zoombrowser that came with your camera.

RawShooter Essentials avalaible free at http://www.pixmantec.com/products/r...essentials.html (external link)
is an excellent raw converter which supports the G6.

Picassa2 is a versatile browser , also free, which is available at http://www.picasa.com/download/index.php (external link) will allow you to view and sort raw images.

You can find IrfanView on the net. Useful free browser software which handles .crw files. There are also free plugin utilities which add .crw functionality to Windows XP file viewer. One is called CRW Thumbnailer and there is a second, more prefessional feeling one that I can't think of the name right now. Trouble is that they work for a little while, then stop working (on my system at least) so I have given up on them - bit like transplant rejection. I'd stick with the Zoombrowser recomendation, use Irfanview or consider buying Breezebrowser. The big advantage of Breezebrowser over Zoombrowser is that it handles LZW compressed TIFF files whilst Zoombrowser doesn't. If you are playing around with raw files, this is likely to become an issue for you.

Here is page with a link (http://www.suodenjoki.dk …rticles/raw_thumbnail.htm (external link) ) to the CRW Thumbnailer that soko mentioned. I've had good success with it. I haven't needed to reinstall it once installed.
