There are some spectacular examples in this thread. I just got the lens yesterday and am really loving it so far. It is super sharp! It was raining most of the day so I couldn't test it out as much as I wanted to..

Thanks, I'm loving it so far and it's pretty much glued to my camera. Still practicing to get the focus right wide open though, none of my other primes had a steep learning curve like this (or maybe it's just me:oops, but it's my absolute favorite.

Definitely it is a great lens! Maybe the only way to unglue it is having another Zeiss beside haha. Maybe it is a little bit harder to get the right rocus but when you get it, it is great!

My viewpoint of Zeiss Glass.

The headquarters for Zeiss is in Oberkochen Germany. I was there last December. If you want to drool then arrange to go to the Museum in the Oberkochen facility. In they museum much of all the artifacts are under glass. Not just any glass, but Zeiss glass. Its amazing stuff. You cannot even tell that there is glass between you and the artifact. But reach out and your hand will fail to penetrate the glass protection.

Its a sight to behold. Looking at a 50mm 1.4 and at first it looked empty as if there was no glass at all. How do they do that? I won't tell. Just take it from me, they couldn't possibly make a poor lens.

All well and good, except for the fact that Cosina actually makes the lenses these days

Not sure where the actual glass is made, but still.

Note: I still very much love my little old Contax Zeiss glass. Wonderful stuff.

I believe all Zeiss lenses use Schott glass. Cosina, under the guidance of Zeiss must get a mixture of material they provide themselves with certain higher quality glass elements from Schott.

Also the Contax era Zeiss lenses were made in Germany at first but then transitioned to Cosina (designated AE to MM) with no difference in IQ other than possibly a slight update in lens coating.
