I thought id share with you a recent experience of mine,

About a month ago i decided to buy an omnibounce diffuser for my 420ex flash.
So i did my typical shopping around to find that nobody really had them available here in Melb Aust. Ebay had several off shore companies who were ready to sell me their product plus delivery charges.

I decided that this would be the best and fastest way to get myself a diffuser (since supplier advocated 3-7days delivery).

Anyway to make a long story short, prior to shipping the product, the supplier -T dimension, asked via email on two seperate occasions to clarify whether th omnibounce was for the 550ex or the 420ex. I replied in both instances that it was for the 420ex.

4 days later i have a delivery and i find its the omnibounce that suits the 550ex - too big. Now you might think okay send it back and get the right replacement. The thing is this thing only cost $22 AUD and the shippage was $12 AUD. The cost of shipping it back (t dimension wont refund this) would mean i am now spending almost double the original cost.

And since i paid via paypal, i decided to submit a buyer protection dispute via paypals website. They are investigating the matter and will get back to me within 30days. 30 f#$%#$%ken days.....geeeeezzz

Yeah yeah i know .....$30 measily bucks... but its the principal that counts. if a company cant dispatch an order in accordance with the original order requirements.. then what good are they.

Im now stuck with a 550ex omnibounce that i dont need. Thinking of reselling it on ebay if i dont get a response within the next two weeks... .. one things for sure id stay clear of t-dimension, stupid b__st___ds.

Umm what exactly did you bid on? Was it the item you bid on but it was the wrong size? That's what it sounds like. Which if in that case the seller did nothing wrong and you were at complete fault for not researching what you were buying if you bid on the item you actually got.

As in (for example only), say you bid on a Canon A70 Camera, you win the auction, pay for it and then when you get it, you thought the A70 was the A95. The auction was for the A70 and the seller sent you the A70, it isn’t the sellers fault you wanted the A95 because you bid on the A70 so as far as the seller is concerned, you got the item you bid on. No fraud.

eBay is not a Satisfaction Guaranteed place. In fact eBay isn’t even a refund place, it is a buyer beware AS IS place. eBay isn’t a store, eBay is basically an Online Flea Market.

It is the buyers sole responsibility to read all the Terms of Sale and research the item they are buying. If they don’t like the terms then they don’t bid. Filing a Fraud complaint with PayPal is wrong and thankfully the odds are they won’t proceed to do anything. I say thankfully because filing a complaint like this with PayPal is not fair to the seller as the items were delivered. Just because the item is not what you were wanting, as in it doesn’t fit, isn't fraud, it is a mistake.

It is best you resell it. After dealing with more then 1600 different people from around the globe and going through more then 3500 different auctions as a buyer/seller I have gone through it all. From being ripped off, to being the victim of a bogus fraud charge because the buyer has buyers remorse. I have bought things I didn’t like (like a Rebel 2000) which I simply resold on eBay.

A lot of times it isn’t worth it to resend to the seller, even if they are willing to refund the item because S&H is too much (unless you live in USA where the Postal Rates are so cheap!). I know it always sucks to get an item that was the wrong item but when that happens it isn’t the sellers fault.

Now if the seller sent the wrong item that was not bid on, that is different. Then he/she should pay for S&H back, and send the right item right away. “should” only used as in “Decent thing to do” he/she doesn’t have too though. On the rare time I made a mistake like that, I always usually just refunded the cost of the item (not S&H) and let them keep what they got.

I no longer sell on eBay though, because it is a rip off, their policies stink and their employee’s are so corrupt that I do not trust that site at all for me to sell on.

I only bothered reading your first paragraphy so far... but no the item i bid on was specifically the 420ex as copied and pasted from order email

Brand New Omnibounce Light Diffuser 4 Canon 420Ex 550Ex

CJ. i take your response as though you think i dont know what i am talking about.

The supplier prior to shipping requested clarification on the type of diffuser. This was made.. as clearly indicated in my fist post.

Secondly, paypal dispute forms allow you to submit based on different reasons, oneof which is the receiving of goods that are not the right model etc.

I have not submitted a fraud response......... I must note that i have waited almost 4 days and to this day have not received any response from supplier.

Now if the seller sent the wrong item that was not bid on, that is different. Then he/she should pay for S&H back, and send the right item right away. “should” only used as in “Decent thing to do” he/she doesn’t have too though. - this is where i stand now.

I know it always sucks to get an item that was the wrong item but when that happens it isn’t the sellers fault. - sorry severe clash of opinion here as the advertised product referred to 420ex

Well I don't have any comment then. I know exactly what I am talking about when it comes to eBay, I've heard every story from good to bad on the eBay boards that I use to frequent for 3 years never mind sold and bought from thousands of kinds of people.

Personally I would never buy from that seller but that is just me. You will probably have to resell this item to get your money back. Sorry to hear your 3rd transaction on eBay was so stressful for you. Hopefully you wont have any more. Buyer beware.

Just wanted to set the record straight,

Based on post discussions with seller via email, the seller agreed to ship the 420ex omnibounce out to me at no charge.... although i would need to pay for the shipping back of the 550ex omnibounce to them.

They were extremely apologetic and explained it was an error they must have made during packing phase.

In anycase i received my 420ex omnibounce today in the mail and all is well.

Cant wait to try this little baby out.

I wouldn't pay for the return postage I'm afriad. Their mistake, they should pay for it, or let you keep the 550 OB.
