Has anyone used one of these? I've been reading good things about this item and was able to purchase one for $36.00. I was just wondering what the actual range of the remote is.

Hi,
I have this remote control also.
I don't have much expereince with it, because I have it just a few weeks.
But it works good and fine.
I bought it via E-bay, Hong Kong Supplies (Etefore), in Hong Kong...

The price doesn't differ much.

What I like the most of this remote control, is that I can use the wired push button, but also the wireless.
When I'm using the wired control, I don't need to turn it on...

I have one and it works well. I have not tested the range of the unit too much. So far it triggers from 1-20 feet no problem. I have also used it to trigger my camera while am indoors and the camera is outside about 15 feet away through a window.

Hell, I thought...
Let's try a bit of its range...
a few inch, no problem...
25 feet (the length of my room), no problem...
Camera in the rear of the room, me in the hallway in front of my house...
So through a wall or door, no problem!...
Oké, now the cam still in the same place... me upstairs in several places of the house...
So through a concrete seeling/floor, no problem!...

I just received it today and it works quite nicely. I have not tried to see how far it will work...to cold outside, but it does work from once side of the house to the other going through about 3 walls. Can't wait to set my camera up next to my bird feeders and trying this out.

I bought the Cleon remote off of a member on POTN a few months back. Excellent product, but I don't use it as much as I thought I would. It definitely helps for family photos, when you need to be in it!

Works well. I use it to get-in-the-picture and when tripod mounted.

That would have been me, and that is my ecrater link above. However, I only have one left at this point. (EDIT the last one has sold)

The next product I hope to offer here will be the Phottix Strato C8, but it will be a few weeks before I get those, and they will be priced a bit more (by maybe $3).

Question.....what type of battery does it take? How long is the cord (for when using wired). And....where does the receiver connect to the camera? Thanks.

I don't know which batteries it uses. The receiver plugs into the camera under the front rubber cover. The cord is about a foot long coiled, and could be pulled further but I don't. If I need it longer, I'll just pull out the remote.

I like the C8, I just wish I didn't forget to bring it so often :o

Pictures show it attached to the hot shoe....is that an option? I would want to use this with my speedlight (on the hot shoe)

It's just an option. I tie mine to the tripod if I have a camera mounted flash.

So Dan are you saying it doesn't need to be mounted on the hotshoe to work?
