Just wondering which picture style is most used. Till now I have used standard the most but I'm starting to be seduced by the neutral one...

Neutral - it gives a more realistic histogram - Even if you shoot raw (like i do) the Standard, and most of the other styles (except Faithful) boosts contrast/colours and the embedded jpeg will have this applied to it and could give false indication of blown highlights and/or shadows.

Pictures styles are also quite useful when shooting RAW. You can apply any Picture Style to a RAW file with DPP during post processing, or use the equivalent color profile in Lightroom or Adobe Camera Raw.

It's to bad with DPP that when you add a new picture style, it is not memorised within the picture style list. Everytime you launch DPP, you have to click on the Browse button again to load the new picture style...

Yeah I hate that. Lame.

The picture styles now appear as dedicated 'camera profiles' in Adobe Camera Raw and therefore anyone using Photoshop or Lightroom can take advantage of them.

Yeh, dumb idea IMO - it wouldn't take much to add them to the list i'm sure.

Neutral. The reason I shoot RAW is so that I can do my own editing and not blindly apply the taste of some software designer, so I avoid presets, either for WB or Picture Style or automatic enhancements. Of course some minimal hard-wired editing is unavoidable, but Neutral at least keeps it to a minimum.

Neutral. To my eye, Standard seems to saturate and slightly shift reds.

Can Canon cameras be set to have RAW in Neutral and the JPEG set with more color and contrast, etc.? I like seeing the JPGS to give me an idea what the picture looks like.
