I have been given by a friend, for my new studio, an old nice bank, called "ALADINO BANK WINDOW LIGHT 150". I believe that this item is not produced anymore, and it's very hard to find spare parts.
this bank is quite big: 150x110 cm, which is 59 x 43 Inches.
The light source is a continuous light: 2 quartz halogen lamps, 620 Watts each.
The issue is that this bank is missing the external white diffuser tissue. How can I replace this diffuser? Would an ordinary tissue, like an old bed cotton sheet do?
Thanks
Tiziano

Check the local fabric stores.

In the US it's called rip-stop nylon.
White.

I wouldn't use anything from a fabric store as you can never know what sort of colour cast it's going to give you - I find that a lot of fabrics manufactured to be white tend to have a blue or magenta cast.

Get some proper, colour-neutral, high-temperature diffusion from Lee or Rosco - something like Grid Cloth or Quiet Frost would be suitable. It won't be cheap but it will probably still be cheaper than buying a new one from the manufacturer would have been.

Paul Buff suggests white 200D pack cloth from Rockywoods for diffusion

He suggests the 420D because it is heavier for a bounce type situation.

From PCB forum

The 200 denier is good for shoot through. The 420 denier is heavier and will diffuse and reflect more. Both are good non-UV reactive fabrics - the best I've found in the US - and pretty cheap too.

Curtis, do you think this could do? It has the perfect size and it's very cheap:

Thanks for the hint. I found a seller here in Rome that seems to have this stuff in his catalog. Only, I suspect that is going to be really expensive, as the tissue they sell is 7 meters long, and this company is specialized in movies equipment...I am not sure about spending a lot on this, as this bank is too big for my studio, and I normally use flash lights. Anyway I'll call them tomorrow to find out.

Thanks. This company ships world wide too, but the tissue is too small: 60 inches, when the bank is 59.

60 inches X any length you want

if the bank is 59" X 43"... Why can't you get a piece that is 60" X 44" and have a 1/2 hem all the way around?

If that won't work use the 60" wide material for the 43" side and purchase any length you think you need for the 60" side
