I just received my 5D MKII.
Took some test shots and found this when I opened the picture with Digital Photo Pro.

This crop section shows in the same spot on every picture. It looks like a bad pixel.
Should I send it back.. Thanks for your help.

No don't sell it there is nothing wrong with the camera.

Dig around these forums and you'll see that
a. it's normal
b. it's fixable by putting the body cap onto the machine then running the manual sensor cleaning mode for about a minute which will eliminate this issue.

omg it's that weird "X" type dead pixel (look closely at it, it's in a X shape) again, just like the other user the other day

You have to wonder what QC is being run on sensors nowadays...are they even bothering to do a CMOS calibration anymore -_-

What I dont get is how it could be an 'x' if its only one pixel...

Its not one pixel, its a group of pixels.

Oh, I thought hot pixel only referred to one pixel...

Pixel defect = 1 pixel. Whether it's stuck ON or OFF. Or if it doesn't capture the intended range that it's supposed to.

Cluster defect is more than 1 pixel. It could be a 3x3 array or a 9x9 array. It's still a cluster.

Companies will usually allow for a certain amount of defective pixels and defective clusters. Canon digital cameras will usually remap the defective clusters and pixels, though not always.
