Landscape C n C please

Looking for some advice... Have been at this for a few months, getting out and about at sunrise as often as I can. Apart from rekindling my love for birds and nature, I'm getting a few shots that I quite like but nothing that I think is good enough to post but I've realised that if I don't post I won't get the feedback I need to improve!

So how can I improve my landscapes?

To improve, try using either a polarizer or GND filter.

I used a 3 stop Cokin GND on these... I've just won a slot in polariser on ebay sp will try that next time

I think composition is where I have the most trouble, turning whats in front of me into a good shot... or maybe need to find some more interesting locations!

the 2nd one has great potential in b&w

Thanks, I'll give it a try, I always forget about B&W!

I like both of them. I like the second shot better... but they're both good. I think the bright sky adds the the picture. Gives it a certain type of mood.

hmmm, I didnt think the skies looked bright on my imac at home but just got to work and theyre a lot brighter on my mac here

I like the second one. I hope you don't mind I touched it up abit. A little saturation, incresed contrast in curves.

Nice touch up Boomer..... very nice.

binliner ... keep going and keep sharing. You are doing pretty good. Sometimes it takes a little stumbling to 'see' differently.

edited: I just went to your flickr site. You have some nice stuff. It will be nice to see more.

Boomer that looks great thanks... I'm always scared of going too far with pp so probably end up being a bit too subtle. That shot looks much more 'dramatic' now so maybe I need to be a bit more daring

i love these - and the actual scenery looks EXACTLY like a harbour mudflat beach in south auckland, nz (i had to look at your location to verify!)

youve got good foreground interest, great use of colour and they are perfectly exposed imo

just watch your horizons - slightly off true always looks worse than diagonal-on-purpose

thanks... I'm terrible at getting horizons straight, that's one of the only disadvantages to the 30D, my powershot had a grid on the screen to help composition. I should invest in a hot shoe level

Just been flicking through a gude to New Zealand in this months Sunday Times Travel magazine... some amazing scenery there, surprised you have mudflats as well!

HAHA oh yeh we have pretty much everything here - in fact i don't think there is a type of scenery that exists elsewhere in the world which we don't have something comparable, except some of the types of desert (like arizona for example)

and, mudflats too LOL

The color is amazing. what time of day did you take this? I like them nevertheless.
