Ok, I'll be the first to admit it: I've lost some GREAT shots because I was too busy chimping. I'm now considering trying to wean myself from the need to chimp, but it's hard - I need to chimp my histograms!

So, how many of you have turned off image review to stop yourself from chimping? And did it work? How does one get over a chimping addiction?

Are you talking about having your last shot appear on screen after each shot? If so, I've never had it on.

I just remind myself of shots I have missed at times because of chimping. It keeps me from looking. :)

I added a poll . If you have it turned off for other reasons but never chimped in the first place, just select option 5 :p.

I chimp. And I'm not ashamed of it!

Some stuff that says "Canon" on it and a happy trigger finger.

Chimping is safe in moderation...some people just take it too far.

How does that work? Self-evaluation on the fly?

I admit, I'm a chimping hypocrite. I chimp, but I also make fun of people who chimp.

oh haha - maybe it wasnt so clear - but basically i was saying i've missed more shots (or had to delete more shots) because i didnt check exposure or for camera shake... so just messing up and not realizing it and just continuing without adjusting my settings :p woops!

I have it off. I don't think I've ever had it on. It's not that I don't review shots, it's just I don't need then popping up after each capture. I can't imagine how annoying it would be if last image popped up after each shot while I was shooting a hockey game! I'd go blind, and the battery wouldn't last all three periods!

I turned off image preview, not to prevent chimping, but because the
preview flashing onto the screen distracted me - weird, huh?
Don't chimp much, anyways - just to check the histogram and blinkies once
in a while, or to see if I captured a fleeting expression - using the SET
button makes it fast and painless.

PS - I believe compulsive chimpers can be productive members of
society, if properly medicated.

I do it rarely, just to make sure I'm getting what I want. I usually shoot bands, so relying on the metering isn't always preferred. Always have to check and make sure I'm not totally screwing up lol.
