I use the review as a double check to see if my settings and results are the way I want them. Once I have a feel for that I just shoot a way. Using the review is one of the beauties of digital photography. Why not use it??

Chimpers are way out in front, with some even defending the act! Funny that none of the folk who voted for the last option have spoken up to ask wtf this is all about .

Actually, after this guy named Morpheus offered me a Red pill, I see a histogram wherever I look. Who needs chimping? It's not the answer, its the question that drives us. . .

I always thought that was one of the benefits of going digital....the ability to see what you have before going home and developing. :D

If I didn't want to chimp, I'd go back to film. Heck, that's one of the biggest advances digital offers us, the ability for instant review.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

But have you lost any shots because you were too busy chimping? That is the point :).

It is worse than it sounds. I am afraid to close my eyes for loss of detail in the shadows.

It's when, after taking a shot, you look at it on the rear LCD - the term "chimping" comes from the sounds people tend to make when in the act.

Edit: so as not to kill option 6, I made this answer hard to read.

I had it turned off until I shot a bunch of shots at ISO 1600 because I had needed it the night before. My own fault, and partly the result of a mild hangover, but what should have been excellent shots ended up just-usable due to noise. Now it's on so I can check the first couple shots in given lighting, then I shoot away without checking for the most part. I'm still guilty of chimping here and there though. :)

I have it off. I don't think I've ever had it on. It's not that I don't review shots, it's just I don't need then popping up after each capture. I can't imagine how annoying it would be if last image popped up after each shot while I was shooting a hockey game! I'd go blind, and the battery wouldn't last all three periods!

Same here, image review is off.
I do my test shots and chimping before the shooting session.
Once it’s a go, there is no need for additional chimping.

When I take a break, I quickly check my shots and delete obvious mistakes, but the real ‘chimping is done on the computer.

What we see depends mainly on what we look for.

Being new to the world of DSLR photography I had to go look up the term.
Glad to find out I am a chimper.

Link for those who don't want to google the term :)
