I'm a chimper because I do not trust my own abilities. :P

I have a tendency to leave the camera in some totally-inappropriate mode and then pick it up and start taking pictures. Chimping seems to help me compensate for that.

For instance, I might leave the camera set to ISO 1600, F/4 @ 1/30th of a second, and then walk outside on a bright and sunny day to take a picture. Look at the LCD and see solid white. Adjust settings.

I opted for; I leave it on, but I don't chimp.

Generally I review the screen for blinkies and not much else to be honest, if I'm standing around waiting on something then I may have a quick look, but that doesn't happen that often.

Ill chimp if im out with others taking photos as a group but when out working, I turn it all off and not let others chimp. If they wanna see photos, give them a card to my site. :)

They can "chimp" to their hearts content.

Let me see if I'm following - you say that the menu window on the back can show photos too?

It's a tool available to me to check exposure and if things are blown. I'm going to use that tool. I'd be somewhat more of an idiot if I didn't use available tools.

But as the OP states and others have mentioned, this poll is regarding chimping.

I kind of do it all at the same time though, chimping and exposure. I do chimp as well, easy to miss stuff like some little kind at the corner of the frame, tree branches in the way, slightly uneven horizons. It's nice to have it there and I do use. Not obsessively though :)

OK, so I tried turning it off for a couple days.....FORGET THAT, didn't take to it, just got another battery, so, back to seeing the image review after every shot unless its night time:)

same here, tried to turn it off but didnt like it. well for me even night time I still review it  I prefer chimping and find out any mistake rather than reach home and find it out later

I’m a proud chimper, but I turned the IP off the first day I got my first dSLR. Annoying sh*t, if you ask me!

I keep it off when shooting outside in cold weather to preserve the battery, otherwisw it is on for later review. It is particularly helpful when setting manual exposures with flash.

I turned image review off. I just check images when I want to and keep my chimping under control.
