Mine isn't as crisp as the one taken by Reigh Higgins, but here it is. I don't know for sure what I'm doing wrong here, or if perhaps it is just a matter of atmosphere getting in the way. It "looks" clear outside, but who knows... Anyway, here's my shot of the moon (about 18 hours after the actual full moon). It is cropped of course, but the pixels are 1:1.

I was putting this pic into my phone, and my phone has an edit feature for pictures. I clicked on auto-something-or-other, and it looked better, so I tried it with this. This was done in the Office Picture Manager, just clicked on the auto-adjust, and it came out like this. Not sure which I like better, but I like both.

You don't say what settings you used. You might want to repost this in the Astronomy and Celestial section, and ask for advice on what settings to use. FWIW, I did a quick edit, hope you like :D

Sheryl, yes, I do like. What did you do to it, so I can try? Thanks!

Mine is a little OOF as well, but it could be the lens. I haven't heard much good about it.

The lack of detail looks more like over-zealous noise reduction than anything to me. I'm not really familiar with what atmospheric disturbance looks like at those distances, so it could be that too. Nice attempt though. In future, you might want to try shooting the moon when it's not full, which will give some of the craters and mountains more definition and detail.

Hi Rich. Thanks! In CS3 I used shadow/highlights and played around with the levels slightly, then I sharpened it a couple of times. This created quite a lot of noise so I then used Noiseware Pro to tone that down. Then I used Unsharp Mask. Finally I think I increased the saturation slightly. I find it's trial and error most of the time to try and get the look you want :D

Thanks. I'm still trying to learn the basics of PS, picking up a tip here and a tip there. Maybe one of these days I'll take a class...
